Voluntary Gateway is committed to protecting the privacy of all visitors to the Gateway.

General Visitors / Unregistered Users

Voluntary Gateway does not collect personal information such as name, phone number or email when users visit the Gateway.

Voluntary Gateway has software in place to monitor network traffic and identify any unauthorized attempts to change information or cause damage.

Voluntary Gateway does collect some technical information when visitors browse the Gateway, access forums, read pages or download information. The information that is collected and stored is listed below:

• The Internet domain and IP address from which the Gateway is being accessed;
  
• The type of browser(s) (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla, etc.) used to access the Gateway;
  
• The date and time the Gateway is accessed;
  
• The pages visited; and
  
• If linked to Voluntary Gateway from another website, the address of the outside site is also collected.

This information is gathered only to help make Gateway visits more useful to the user. This data allows us to determine the number of visitors to various parts of the Gateway and the types of technologies visitors use.

Registered Users / Members

Personal information such as name, phone number or email would be obtained only through secure portions of the Gateway when registering to use the Discussion Forums or Gateway Communities.

Voluntarygateway.ca respects the privacy of its stakeholders, and makes every effort to protect information in its possession. All personal information created, held or collected by Voluntary Gateway is protected, and Voluntarygateway.ca is acting in compliance with federal privacy legislation under the Personal Information Protection and Electronics Documents Act (PIPEDA).
