Imagine Canada hasn't backed down since the November 21, 2008 Open letter to the Prime Minister. The group is dedicated to illustrating to Stephen Harper just how important the voluntary and non-profit sector is while he plans the crucial 2009 Federal Budget.

They submitted Short-Term Stimulus Measures for Assisting Canadians and Communities during the Economic Downturn to Harper and Jim Flaherty, Minister of Finance, on January 15, 2009. The brief asked Government to uphold their current commitments to direct funding; build Federal funding for community, recreation, cultural, and environmental activities; and "provide a time-limited enhancement to tax measures that stimulate giving."
