Young non-profit employees face too much pressure (US)

According to the results of a study released in the United States, young non-profit employees express significant concern for the future of their professional careers. Long work hours and low pay were two of the biggest reasons they considered for leaving the non-profit sector and finding careers in the government and business sectors.

Less than nine per cent of respondents indicated that they would pursue the leadership position in a non-profit organization as the Executive Director.

"We need to think about ways to make these positions sustainable," said Josh Solomon, a board member of the network, Young Non-profit Professionals Network, who presented the results. "Passion isn't enough to keep people in these roles."
