Reaching out to the community
Many professionals find it difficult to juggle their workload and their commitment to their communities.
One professional association is making it easier for its members to bridge the gap between their careers and making a difference where they live. The Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGA) is actively encouraging its members to volunteer their skills and expertise for non profit organizations.
A recent issue of the association’s magazine suggests volunteering “… helps to promote the profile and high standing of the CGA profession, plus offers invaluable opportunities for CGAs to serve as proud champions of their many abilities and strengths to various publics.”
The association has put together a kit suggesting ways to undertake volunteering, including material on how to prepare financial statements for non profit organizations. Volunteering may also earn a CGA credit for his or her mandatory continuing professional development hours.
Contact The Certified General Accountants of Ontario (CGA) for more information about the volunteering kit or contacting an accountant in your area.
