About the Voluntary Gateway

Mission

Helping voluntary organizations in Canada build stronger, healthier and more vibrant communities by making it easier to communicate, network and share information online.

Emerging Vision

The Voluntary Gateway is a portal that makes it easier to locate information and resources, as well as facilitate collaboration to strengthen communities and social enterprise. The portal is a high profile hub that enables connections – to people, programs, organizations and new ideas. It is a platform from which users may share assets, dialogue and research - a tool for improved communication.

Services

To achieve our mission, the Voluntary Gateway offers a wide array of free and useful services including:

  • Regularly updated news and resources
  • Access to online communities
  • Access to discussion forums
  • Weekly Enewsletter updates

History of the Voluntary Gateway

The Voluntary Sector Portal was a project of the Voluntary Sector Initiative (VSI) with funding provided by the Government of Canada. A consortium led by the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC) and the Canadian Federation of Voluntary Sector Networks built the portal with project management provided by Niagara College Centre for Community Leadership Inc. The Gateway is currently hosted by the Community Services Council Newfoundland and Labrador with input from groups across Canada who provide guidance, contribute content and assist with promotion.
